This genus was named after a French botanist in the 1600's, and although there are more than 350 species, the hybridized tuberous begonias are the most widely used. They prefer a location out of direct sun with good moisture. Hardy only in Zones 10, bulbs should be lifted in the fall and replanted in the spring. Start 6 to 8 weeks before outdoor planting time and enjoy blooms from June until frost.
