(Syn. Montbretia) This cormous species is native to South Africa and in warmer climates will form large clumps.  The gladiolus-like foliage fans around the branched, zig-zagging flower spikes.  The long stems are lined with a profuse number of star-shaped, tubular flowers that open over a long period.  Very effective vertical accents in borders and cutflower arrangements.
